For international buyers, the Canton Fair is an important opportunity to meet Chinese manufacturers, compare products, and develop new sourcing partnerships. The 140th Canton Fair will be held from October 15 to November 4, 2026, with Phase 2 taking place from October 23 to 27 and covering Building & Decorative Materials and Furniture.
For buyers looking for plywood, however, finding a supplier at the fair is only the first step. The key is determining whether a supplier can provide consistent quality, competitive pricing, and reliable long-term supply.
1. Clearly Define Your Plywood Requirements
Before visiting the Canton Fair, prepare a detailed purchasing list. Consider the plywood type, thickness, dimensions, core material, surface quality, application, quantity, and destination market.
For example, furniture manufacturers may focus on surface quality and thickness consistency, while construction buyers may pay more attention to strength, bonding performance, and durability.
Having clear specifications makes it easier to compare different plywood suppliers at the Canton Fair.
2. Check Whether the Supplier Is a Manufacturer
When you meet a potential plywood supplier, ask whether they are a direct manufacturer, factory, or trading company.
A professional plywood manufacturer should be able to explain its production process, raw materials, available specifications, quality control procedures, and production lead time.
For buyers planning regular wholesale plywood orders, working with a reliable manufacturer can also make communication and quality management easier.
3. Compare Plywood Quality, Not Just Price
Price is important, but it should not be the only factor when choosing a China plywood supplier.
Ask suppliers about:
- Core materials
- Veneer quality
- Thickness tolerance
- Surface condition
- Bonding quality
- Available plywood grades
- Packaging methods
Requesting samples is also a practical way to compare products from different suppliers before placing a bulk order.
4. Evaluate Export Experience
International buyers should also check whether the supplier has experience exporting plywood to overseas markets.
Discuss important details such as MOQ, container loading, packaging, lead time, shipping documents, payment terms, and delivery arrangements.
A supplier with experience in international trade can help reduce communication problems during the purchasing and shipping process.
5. Visit the Factory Before a Large Order
Meeting a supplier at the Canton Fair is useful, but a factory visit can provide additional information.
If possible, visit the supplier’s plywood factory after the exhibition. Buyers can check production processes, raw materials, quality control, warehouse conditions, and loading procedures.
This is especially important when developing a long-term wholesale plywood partnership.
